who told the very first lie?

THE GARDEN DEFIANTLY REIMAGINES EVE'S FIRST DAYS AS A CELEBRATION OF CURIOSITY AND AMBITION

about the music

It matters who tells the story.

This idea is at the center of THE GARDEN.

What happens when we hand the mic to Adam, Luc and Eve and give them the opportunity to tell us their version of events leading up to, and following, “the bite”? Because I can tell you right now, the original source material hands Eve the short end of the stick.

how it started

I started writing THE GARDEN in 2020, shortly after the start of the pandemic. Like many, I suddenly found myself with a lot of time on my hands.

I wrote bits and pieces of the story, but it wasn’t until I enrolled in Mark Shanahan’s Playwright’s Playground intensive at JWS in February 2021 that I started to take myself seriously.

There I learned the basics of playwriting, and found a community of playwrights that I still meet with every week.

  • What is The Garden About?
What happens when we hand the mic to Adam, Luc and Eve and give them the opportunity to tell us their version of events leading up to, and following, “the bite”? Because I can tell you right now, the original source material hands Eve the short end of the stick. THE GARDEN defiantly reimagines Eve's first days as a celebration of curiosity and ambition. I grew up listening to my aunt and uncle sing Peter, Paul and Mary in WI parks and Barnes and Nobles. They started a folk band in college, which my sister and I later joined. You’ll hear a lot of folk influence in the music.
  • Where can I hear the music from The Garden?
You can watch the videos on my 'playwright' page OR head over to Youtube to see our July 2022 workshop performance!
  • Where did you get the idea for The Garden?
